About AZIMITH Eye Ointment
AZIMITH Eye Ointment contains Azithromycin 0.1% w/w, a powerful macrolide antibiotic that kicks out conjunctivitis effectively. Azithromycin belongs to a group of medicines called macrolide antibiotics, offering broad-spectrum activity effective in killing many types of bacteria in both adults and children. AZIMITH is manufactured by I Smith at our WHO-GMP certified facility in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, for supply to hospitals, retail pharmacies, and export partners.
How It Works
- Belongs to a group of medicines called macrolide antibiotics
- A broad-spectrum type of antibiotic effective in killing many types of bacteria in adults as well as children
- Used to treat eye infections which produce a lot of pus, including those caused by bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis
- Stops the growth of the bacteria causing the infection and clears the infection
Indications
- Purulent bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye)
- Trachoma conjunctivitis
How AZIMITH Eye Ointment Relates to AZIMITH Tablets
AZIMITH Eye Ointment uses a topical 0.1% Azithromycin formulation for direct treatment of eye infections like conjunctivitis. Our AZIMITH 500 and AZIMITH-250 tablets use oral Azithromycin at much higher systemic doses for respiratory, ENT, skin, and other bacterial infections — the ointment and tablets serve different infection sites and are not interchangeable.
